What is happening
Understanding your pain comes first.
Tendinopathy develops when a tendon has been asked to handle more load than it can tolerate for a while. It hurts when you start an activity, the day after exercise or when you press on it, and it tends to come and go for months.
We call it tendinopathy rather than tendinitis because it is rarely a purely inflammatory problem. That is why anti-inflammatories and rest alone usually do not fix it.
What we treat
- Patellar tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Rotator cuff tendinopathy
- Tennis and golfer’s elbow
- Gluteal tendinopathy (outer hip pain)
- Plantar fasciitis

Good to know
Before you book.
How long it takes
Tendons adapt slowly. Most people notice improvement within a few weeks and consolidate it over two to three months of consistent work.
What not to do
Stop completely or carry on exactly as before. We adjust your activity so you can keep moving without making it worse.
What the evidence says
Progressive loading exercise has the strongest support. EPI, shockwave or neuromodulation can help as add-ons, never as a replacement.
FAQ
Tendon pain: your questions.
Is tendinitis the same as tendinopathy?+
The terms are often used interchangeably, but most cases are not classic inflammation: the tendon has lost tolerance to load, so treatment focuses on rebuilding it.
Can I keep running or training?+
Usually yes, with adjustments. We use pain as a guide: mild discomfort that does not get worse the next day is generally acceptable.
When do you use EPI or shockwave?+
When the tendon does not respond enough to exercise or pain is very limiting. We decide after the assessment and ultrasound scan.
